Starting a Business, 5 Questions to ask Yourself
Well, here you are, you are just about to start your own business organisation. Well, congratulations , there is no better place to be than getting ready to start out on your dream. In some ways I envy you , I recall when I was first starting out and putting my own dreams into place.
If you are like me this dream to go out on your own and be your own boss and the master of your own
circumstances has been with you for what seems like forever . I know that i had the dream for three to four years before I finally plucked up the bravery to take the plunge.
Before you take that final step though, ask yourself these 5 questions and see if you are truly ready to take the step into entrepreneurship.
1. Do You Have the Passion to be an Entrepreneur?
Are you ready to take the risks of entrepreneuship? Passion and motivation is what will drive you through the sometimes difficult times that lie ahead. You may have a dream, but your dream needs to be exeptionally strong, it needs to be something that will move you to get up in the break of the day and set out on a day that will be stressful, challenging and many times seemingly not worth the effort. Passion will give you the motivation and the desire to take you to the next level and the next.
2 Do You have all of the Necessary Skills ?
In the business that you are about to start , do you have all of the skills that you need to get the business up and running and are you able to supply the knowledge that is going to make that business work? If you are purchasing an existent business do you have all of the knowledge that you need to not only run that business but also to take it out to another level?
3. Do You Have the Qualities to be an Entrepreneur?
Entrepreneurs need to be tough, gritty, focussed , driven and sometimes pig headed. An entrepreneur needs to have strong motivation, desire and a willingness to go the extra mile to succeed. You will need to be self reliant, competitive and have a strong desire to succeed no matter what odds are stacked against you. All of the top entrepreneurs in history have at some time struggled but have been able to fight through that because the desire is so strong.
4. How are Your People Skills?
An entrepreneur needs to be an employer, a networker, a marketer, a slaesperson and sometimes a hearer. A great entrepreneur will be a person who has incredible people skills in particular in the area of motivation and of sharing a vision that brings others into the dream.
5. What if it all Goes bad ?
Can you handle the fact that it may all fall over on you, that your dream may crash and burn? This happens to many entrepreneurs, but you know something, the great entrepreneurs have had it happen more than once and it simply did not phase them. they picked themselves up and in many cases started again from scratch. If you have a fear of failure do not go down the entrepreneurial road. If you have no fear, and this does not phase you then possibly you have what it takes.
Good luck, get out there and make things happen, see you on the road to success.
